Dear Teens,
When you were little, you used to think of your mother as supermom. She could do no wrong in your eyes. She could solve any problem with a kiss, a hug, or a cookie. But now that you have entered your teenage years, you are starting to see that mom is human. She makes mistakes, has flaws, and might seem a little “cringey” to you at times. What you may not realize is that your mom still tries to impress you, whether it’s with her dance moves or her unsuccessful use of your slang terms, take a moment to appreciate her. She was once a teenager just like you, and she still wants to connect with you in her own unique way.
No matter how embarrassing us moms can be, we do know that you are getting older and don’t need us in the same way that you used to, but it’s important to remember that even though you are growing up, you still need mom. You need her love, her guidance, and her support. You need her to cheer you on in your endeavors, and she’s always there to help you pick up the pieces when you feel like life has knocked you down.
As you continue to grow and mature, your relationship with your mother will change and grow. But I hope that you will always have a strong bond, and that you know that she loves you, no matter what. There is no love like the one a mother has for her children. And who knows, maybe one day, you’ll be the one trying to impress your own children, with your sick dance moves, but let’s hope your dance moves are a little better than moms.
Love,
Mama Rach
