Finding Joy this Holiday Season

Hey wonderful souls! As we are smack in the middle of the holiday season I wanted to discuss some routines I’ve started implementing to improve my outlook at a time of year that can be stressful and emotional.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the holiday season, but it does tend to be a busy and more stressful time of year. Now that December is in full swing. I’m trying to keep things simple, real, and filled with heartwarming moments.

I’d like to share a few simple adjustments I’ve made to my daily routine that have helped reduce my stress levels and enhance my mental health:

• ☕️ Grabbing my favorite drink with a friend: whether it’s cocoa, tea, or a special holiday blend is a comforting way to get together and take a breather from holiday madness.

• 🛒 I try to get my errands and Christmas shopping done early, before the crowds. This also has helped keep me healthy during flu season.

• 🥾 Getting outside for some gentle hikes with my Cocker Spaniel outside in nature can be a big serotonin booster.

• 🎁 Gratitude Journaling: I take a moment every morning to jot something down I’m grateful for. It could be as simple as a warm hug or the smell of holiday cookies baking. This helps train my brain to stay focused on the positive aspects of my life.

• 🍪 Mindful Bites: Another holiday activity that helps boost my mood is holiday baking with my daughters. We especially love to bake cherished family recipes and savor these delicious holiday moments together.

• 🤗 Virtual Positivity Challenge: I try to minimize negativity on my social media realm. I’ve started taking breaks from any accounts that are going down the negativity route. Managing the impact of strangers’ venting helps me maintain a more uplifting online experience. I prioritize positivity and have been checking the news only weekly to avoid the overwhelming stream of negative content.

These are a few things I have found to help stay positive during times I find my stress levels rising.

I try to remember, it’s the little moments that make the holidays truly special.

I’d love to hear your tips for keeping upbeat during this time of year.🎅🤶 #HolidayWellness #CozyMoments #RealHolidayJoy”
