Dream Chasers

Happy Friday, everyone! As we wrap up another week, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the projects and dreams we’ve been shelving for “someday.” You know the ones I’m talking about—the novel you’ve wanted to write, the painting you’ve envisioned, the business idea that’s been simmering in the back of your mind. Today, I’m here to remind you that there’s no better time than now to get started.

Why We Procrastinate

It’s easy to put off projects for later in life. Maybe you’re waiting for the “right” time, or perhaps fear and self-doubt creep in, whispering that you’re not ready or capable enough. Procrastination isn’t just about laziness; it’s often rooted in deeper emotional reasons such as fear of failure, perfectionism, or even the fear of success.

A Personal Journey

In January 2023, I decided to break the cycle of procrastination and committed to publishing my first novel, Every Night Has A Dawn. Fast forward to a year later, and not only has my novel been published, but it has also released as an audiobook, and I’ve finished my second novel, Twilight’s Hidden Truth, which peaked at number three in its category on Amazon.

Celebrate Your Wins

Celebrate every milestone, no matter how small. Acknowledging your progress reinforces your motivation and makes the journey enjoyable. Reward yourself for the hard work and celebrate the fact that you’re actively pursuing your dreams.

Not to toot my own horn, but oh, did I have a moment of celebration when Every Night Has A Dawn received over 30 five-star reviews and was nominated as a finalist for “Best Debut” in the American Writing Awards. If this midlife mom can turn dreams into achievements, then trust me, so can you.

The Power of Starting

The truth is, there will never be a perfect time. Life will always be busy, and uncertainty will always be a part of the equation. The key to overcoming procrastination is to start—no matter how small the first step may seem. Starting transforms your mindset from one of doubt and delay to action and possibility.

Small Steps Lead to Big Changes

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Break down your projects into manageable tasks. Dedicate just 10 minutes a day to your project. These small increments of time add up, and before you know it, you’ll have made significant progress.

Embrace Imperfection

Perfectionism can be a significant barrier to getting started. Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes. Every mistake is a learning opportunity, and every bit of progress is valuable. Embrace imperfection and enjoy the process of creating and growing.

Seek Support

Share your goals with friends, family, or a mentor. Accountability can be a powerful motivator. Plus, you’ll find that you’re not alone in your struggles. Support and encouragement from others can be the boost you need to keep moving forward.

The Time is Now

So, as we head into the weekend, let’s make a pact to tackle those projects we’ve been putting off. Let’s shift from a mindset of “someday” to “today.” Remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out to move forward. Just take that first step, and you’ll be amazed at where the path leads.

Your dreams and projects are worth pursuing. Don’t wait for the perfect moment; create it. Start today, and let’s make those dreams a reality. Here’s to a productive and fulfilling journey ahead!

Happy Friday, and happy creating!

Love Always,
