From Dream to Trilogy

As a little girl, I remember getting lost in stories, imagining characters and places that felt as real as the world outside my window. Writing a book felt like a far-off dream, something other people did. But sometimes, the things we think are too big for us have a way of pulling us in anyway.

When I set out to write my first novel, I didn’t have a grand plan to turn it into a trilogy or to create a career-defining project. I just wanted to tell a story that had been sitting in my heart, inspired by family memories, hidden truths, and the resilience we find in ourselves. The process was tough, with late nights, early mornings, and every kind of self-doubt along the way. But, as I kept writing, I felt the story calling me forward, piece by piece.

Somewhere along the way, my project turned from one book to three and within 18 months, I completed my first trilogy as an indie author.

The first installment of the Winds of Change trilogy honors my grandmother’s beautiful spirit. Every Night Has A Dawn celebrates the resilience and grace she carried through every hardship.

The second book, Twilight’s Hidden Truth, pays tribute to my extraordinary mother, a teen mom who faced down enormous challenges. It explores her sacrifices and resilience, detailing her family’s struggles when my uncle was drafted into the Vietnam War—a shadow that shaped her young life.

And then there’s the third book, Twilight’s Brightest Star, inspired by events from my own life: growing up in the nineties, my time as a flight attendant, falling in love, an around-the-world journey I took in my early twenties, and the tragic kidnapping of my cousin Stacey in 1990. I’ve woven these experiences into a fictional narrative that explores resilience, love, and the enduring spirit of family.

This trilogy is more than just a set of books—it’s a reflection of the bonds that tie us across generations and of the strength we can carry even through life’s darkest chapters.

If you’re reading this and you’ve ever felt that little spark to write something of your own, trust it. Follow it. Don’t worry if it feels too big or too distant. One day, you’ll look back and see how each step brought you closer to something amazing. I’m proof that even the wildest dreams can be within reach.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey with me. Whether you’ve read one book or all three, shared a review, or reached out with words of encouragement, it means more than you know. Here’s to more stories, more dreams, and more writers taking the leap.
