Just Believe

Now that Thanksgiving has passed and I’ve celebrated the launch of my third book, I’ve been reflecting on everything this past year has brought. It’s hard to believe that just over a year ago, I was preparing to release my first novel, Every Night Has a Dawn. What started as a single book grew into a trilogy I spent five years crafting—a labour of love that has taught me so much about resilience, storytelling, and, most of all, myself.

When I started writing my first manuscript, I wasn’t doing it for anyone else. I was writing for my grandmother, inspired by her strength and the life she had lived. At the time, I didn’t share much about the project. It felt deeply personal, and I wasn’t sure I’d ever have the courage to let anyone else read it. But as I worked through those early drafts, something shifted. What began as a tribute to my grandmother became something for me. Slowly, I started to believe in my writing, in myself, and in the dream I’d carried for so long.

Family and friends often marvel at how quickly this trilogy came out, but they don’t see the five years it took to build this foundation. Originally, it was one book. But as I grew as a writer, I realised the women behind these characters each deserved their own story, their own book.

Releasing Every Night Has a Dawn in October 2024 was the start of something bigger than I ever imagined. Since then, I’ve completed and published Twilight’s Hidden Truth and Twilight’s Brightest Star. Along the way, this trilogy has hit Amazon best-seller lists, earned awards, and found its way into the hands of readers who’ve shared how much the stories meant to them.

Recently, as I was porting my old Fabumom blog to its new home at www.rachelvalencourt.com, I stumbled upon something that stopped me in my tracks: my grandmother’s email address. I had never realised she’d been following my blog all those years ago. Knowing she quietly supported me in that way—long before I even believed in myself—is a memory I’ll treasure forever.

This journey has brought so many moments of joy: connecting with readers at book signings, hearing from people who stayed up all night with my characters, and seeing how my stories have touched others’ lives. But more than anything, it’s taught me about faith—faith in my craft, in myself, and in the people who’ve supported me along the way.

To everyone who has walked this road with me, whether by reading, sharing, or leaving a review, thank you. You’ve made this past year unforgettable, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

With love and gratitude,
